Bahrain's Muharraq Club is gearing up for a challenging journey as they find themselves placed in a formidable Group A at the 35th Arab Clubs Basketball Championship, set to unfold in Doha, Qatar, from Sunday until October 12.
This prestigious tournament features 18 teams from various regions across the Arab world.
In Group A, Muharraq will go head-to-head with Qatar Sports Club, Bureij Services of Palestine, and the reigning champions Kuwait Sports Club.
Group B includes participants such as Al Ittihad Alexandria from Egypt, Union Sportive Medina d'Alger representing Algeria, Al Ahly Doha of Qatar, and Dynamo Lebanon.
Group C showcases teams like Sanaa from Yemen, AS Sale from Morocco, Al Qadsiya from Kuwait, and Al Fateh from Saudi Arabia.
Group D comprises contenders like Al Ittihad from Libya, Al Ahly of Egypt, Tigris University from Iraq, MTB Majd Tanger from Morocco, and Beirut First Club from Lebanon.
This significant event operates under the patronage of the Arab Basketball Confederation.
Muharraq is all set to kick off their campaign by facing Kuwait on Monday at 7 pm, followed by a matchup against Bureij two days later at 4 pm. They will conclude their Group A fixtures with a clash against Qatar on October 6 at 7 pm.
In preparation for the competition, Muharraq has signed American players Tyler Wilkerson and Julius Coles Jr to bolster their lineup.
In the previous edition of the Arab clubs championship, Bahrain's Al Ahli Club represented the Kingdom and reached the round of 16 before falling to Tigris University. The championship title was ultimately claimed by Kuwait SC, who secured a one-point victory over Egypt's Ahly in the final.
